ABOUT WORD FOR THE WORLD
ORGANIZATION
In obedience to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ to, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel" (Mark 16:15); and seeing the need for a mission board to aid those Bible-Believing, serious-minded men called of God to reach their respective fields of service; and with the blessing of his pastor, Rev. Kelton Williams and the Calvary Baptist Church, Red Bank, Tennessee; Dr. Homer Smith began Word for the World Baptist Ministries in January 1980. Word for the World Baptist Ministries is composed of a Bible Institute and a Mission Board.
Word for the World Baptist Missions is an international faith missionary

whose goals are to:
Dr. Homer Smith has been in the ministry over 50 years planting churches, pastoring, and serving as a missionary evangelist. He holds Faith Promise Missions Conferences to help churches get involved in giving to missions and also to help raise support for missionaries and mission projects around the world. Dr. Smith has helped literally hundreds of churches get involved in Faith Promise Missions Giving and raised millions of dollars for missionaries and mission projects in his 50 + years.
PURPOSE
According to the biblical principle of missions set forth in the book of Acts, Chapter 13, it is the function and duty of the Local Church to authorize and send out its own missionaries. Word for the World Baptist Missions is dedicated to the encouragement and promotion of that principle around the world. Every missionary candidate, to be eligible for service under our Mission Board, must be a member of and commissioned by a local Bible-Believing, Mission-Minded, New Testament Baptist Church. Thus, there is established and maintained a vital relationship between the missionary on the field and his home church. Every authorizing and supporting church, and every missionary, becomes an integral part of the Word for the World Baptist Missions family, and establishes a modern operation of the Scriptural method of missionary enterprise.
It is the purpose of Word for the World Baptist Missions to serve as a means through which Bible–Believing Baptist Churches may:
POLICY
Word for the World Baptist Missions is an arm of, and under the authority of a local church. The desire of the Mission Board is to be an aid to its home church and other local churches to directly support separated, soul-winning, Bible-Believing, Independent Baptist missionaries on their chosen fields around the world, thus fulfilling the command from God to "Go ye into all the world".
The Mission Board seeks to serve those churches and missionaries who God has directed to us to the best of our ability within the guidelines of our policies and practices. While the missionary must abide by the rules and requirements of the Mission Board, it is the desire that all be done in a spirit and an attitude of love. It is a practice of Word for the World Baptist Missions to be "Narrow in doctrine, but liberal in love".
Any person considered for missionary service with Word for the World Baptist Missions must be a member in good standing of an Independent, Bible-Believing, New Testament Baptist Church.
PRECEPTS
PRACTICES
(The Principles of Operation)
Word for the World Baptist Missions and the missionaries who are affiliated with it are to live by the media of faith. This faith is to be in God who supplies all our needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19), and comes by a daily, personal meditation in the Word of God, and by much fervent prayer (Psalms 1:2-3; John 15:7; James 5:16). Just how each missionary puts his faith into practice is to be a personal thing under the direction of the Holy Spirit, which is never contrary to the Holy Scriptures. We do not approve of the financial schemes, antics, wholesale solicitations, and gimmicks, used by many today which are nothing but fleshly methods and are not based upon Bible principles. Our weapons are not to be carnal (worldly-fleshly) but mighty through God . . . which in turn . . . will bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (II Corinthians 10:4-5). We seek to utilize the spiritual weapons of Prayer-Matthew 9:37-38; Waiting-Isaiah 40:31; Fasting-Acts 13:2-3; and the Spirit’s power-I Corinthians 2:4-5.
Our Mission Board allows freedom to the missionary as long as he or she does not do anything contrary to Holy Scripture. The Mission Board assumes no financial responsibility for the projects on the field that the missionary may feel led to propagate. Our missionaries must accept and observe the Mission Board’s Precepts (Statement of Faith), Practices (Principles of Operation), and Policies. The Mission Board serves as a contact between local churches and their missionaries.
We believe that the Gospel Seed (The Word) properly planted and watered will produce an indigenous church anywhere. An indigenous church is a local assembly of baptized believers, a theocracy operating on democratic principles, self-supporting, self-propagating in obedience to the Holy Scriptures, and is led and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We believe that each of our missionaries should seek to be made all things to all men that by all means they might win some (I Corinthians 9:22), have their spirits stirred within them as they see regions beyond wholly given to idolatry (Acts 17:16), and that they be given to continual prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4).
We believe in the great commission that tells us, to go to every creature, to win the lost to Christ, to scripturally baptize them, to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus by a thorough teaching of God’s Holy Word, and to teach them to evangelize others (Matthew 28:19-20).
